Growing up in a small Cape Cod village, Janice was imbued with a strong sense of community and environmental fragility. Immersed in a family ice cream business, she also developed a passion for customer service, business ethics, and cantaloupe ice cream. As a student at Bowdoin College during the 1970’s energy crisis and South Africa’s apartheid era, interest in ethical investment led to academic research into pension fund investments, corporate responsibility in emerging markets, and energy policy. She earned a B.S. in governmental and legal studies, and an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School.
Janice initially worked in nonprofits and government agencies in Maine, focused on energy conservation, renewable energy, and institutional advancement. During her long tenure in the paper industry, she enjoyed opportunities to develop and market recycled content materials. Ultimately, she directed investor relations and corporate communications, managing public reporting and investor queries, including those from the sustainable and responsible investment (SRI) community.
She was thrilled to join the OneReport team in 2006 as sales and marketing director, reprising her early interest in corporate responsibility and responsible investment. She later served as director of OneReport, and became president of the independent entity OneReport, Inc. when created in 2012. She feels grateful for opportunities to undertake software innovations that make a difference for our clients, their organizations, and our larger society.
Janice has been active in local initiatives and organizations, with an education and energy efficiency emphasis. She walks or bikes to work, and enjoys playing tennis, sailing, and skiing. She and her husband, Steve, have three grown daughters, who have developed their own passions working in energy efficiency compliance, sustainable food and agriculture, and social enterprises.
